Article Writing Tips - How To Get Them Read The Rest Of Your Articles

I often write about the importance of article title to grab readers attention to click and actually continue reading your article. What I failed to mention is that there is another thing that is as important than article title. What is it?

If you think about it, when people click through the title of the article to read the content, they have high expectation. If you article promises them how to quickly setup their new site, they may think they will be able to do it in 15 minutes. Others may expect differently but you can’t control their perception.

The Myth Of Automated Day Trading Systems

There is a widespread rumor in the financial community that successful day trading can be manually programmed and automated to produce vast profits for minimal work and input on the part of traders, providing a regular and consistent income by simply setting up a system, clicking a button to turn it on, and walking away.

This is NOT true.

I myself am just one of the many victims of this ‘automated trading system’ myth. In 1996, I strongly believed that a trading system like this was possible, and I wasted four years of my life trying to automate and computerize trading.

Handle Stage Fright - Make The Right Choice

Every time I direct a seminar on Presentation Skills for corporations, government agencies, banks, hospitals and other groups, I begin by talking about Stage Fright—because I know that’s the number one concern speakers feel.

Among the tips I share about stage fright, this may be the most helpful one: Make the right choice.

You see, speakers have three choices when they stand up to speak.

First, they can focus on themselves entirely. Their self-talk goes something like this:

“What if they don’t like me?”

“Did I wear the right outfit, or is this too informal?”

Abstract Writing - Reporting The Results Of Research

The academic abstract is a short restatement of all essential points of a research paper. In the words of Craig W. Allin, “abstracts are an exercise in writing with precision and efficiency.” The abstract is one single paragraph and is subject to specific word limits, typically under 300 words. It stands alone bellow the title or at the end of the paper. Usually, it is printed at the beginning of the paper. Notice that an abstract is not an introduction or a plan to the paper. In fact, the abstract should describe the subject matter of the paper, nature of the research, objective, limitations, and the results.

Book Publicity - The New York Myth

MYTH No.1
“To be a great publicist you need to work out of New York.”

Please do not be deceived. Regardless of location, when it comes to running a national
publicity campaign all book and literary publicists work one-on-one with contacts across
the entire country via telephone, email, post and fax. Book and literary publicity is one of
the rare business endeavors unaffected by the location, location, location factor.

Overall, a pricey upper east side address is good for a publicists business, not necessarily
an authors. Sharing zip-codes with large publishing houses makes it easier for a book or
literary publicist to acquire a continuous flow of new authors for themselves.

Technical Reviewing Basics - Tips For New Reviewers

Reviewing another author’s work is fun. With so many different items posted on the Internet, looking for feedback, it is tempting to give writers encouraging and helpful reviews.

It is true to say that the content of an item is the most important. This is what will grip the reader; this is what the reader will remember. However, if the reader stumbles over technical errors, I think it is fair to assume that sooner or later that reader will give up and move on. Not a pleasant memory, then…
