The Danger Lives On

They did their damage and left, avoiding accountability for their crimes. George Tenet. John Ashcroft. Andrew Card. Donald Rumsfeld. Karl Rove. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who did the greatest damage of all, announced on August 27 that he’ll be leaving next month.

Not a minute too soon. Mr. Gonzales leaves an unmatched legacy of destruction - and it’s questionable as to what would remain of US law were he to continue. He was Attorney General in name only, serving the interests of George Bush to the detriment of the whole country.

Different Categories Of Trademarks

For many businesses, establishing a well-known brand is the key to success. Of course, you need to protect that brand and trademarks are part of the process.

A trademark is a form of intellectual property. You can trademark words, symbols, names, sounds and even colors that distinguish a product or service. A classic example is the Nike swoosh, a symbol that is well known throughout the world. Unlike patents and copyright, trademarks do not expire so long as they are used and, of course, you pay the United States Patent and Trademark Office to renew them!
